About
Our Story
For as long as I can remember, I've loved paper, pens, stickers, and notebooks.
I've been journaling since I was nine years old. Somewhere along the way, I developed a love for beautiful notebooks, really good pens, old postcards, interesting little scraps of paper, and just about anything that might make its way into a journal.
And yes, I am absolutely the person who buys a beautiful notebook and then struggles to write on the first page.
For years, journaling was my way of making sense of life. Lists, memories, plans, thoughts, and the occasional reminder that I really do need to slow down. As a mom, life gets busy, and sometimes sitting down with a good pen and a piece of paper is exactly what I need.
But my love of paper has never stopped at journaling.
I love the things that tell a story. A handwritten letter, a vintage photograph, an old ticket tucked inside a book. The little treasures you stumble across at an estate sale, in a market while traveling, or in a shop you almost walked right past.
I love finding them, collecting them, and imagining where they've been.
And then there are the penguins.
My son loves penguins, and over the years, our home has become the headquarters for a rather entertaining little penguin crew. Pickles, Waffles, and Bean started it all, and let's just say the family has grown.
Somewhere between my love of paper, my tendency to collect things with a story, and our family's penguin obsession, Pickles & Poppy Paper Studio came to life.
What started as an idea for a journaling shop became something a little more curious.
Today, Pickles & Poppy is a collection of thoughtfully chosen stationery, beautiful writing tools, vintage paper treasures, and unexpected finds. Some come from makers around the world. Others have been discovered in antique shops, estate sales, and places I wasn't necessarily supposed to be shopping.
Every piece is chosen because there's something special about it. Maybe it's the texture of the paper, the color of the ink, a clever design, or simply the feeling that it's too good to leave behind.
I believe beautiful things should be used, not saved forever for some imaginary perfect occasion. Write in the notebook. Use the pretty stationery. Put the sticker on the page.
And if you happen to collect a few things along the way, well, you're in good company.
I'm so glad you found our curious little paper shop.
Welcome to Pickles & Poppy.
